DESCRIPTION:Abstract\n\n\n\n\nThis workshop will provide a practical demonstration of using AI generative tools (e.g.\, EdUHK ChatGPT and Scite) to support various tasks in academic research and writing\, such as identifying a research topic\, conducting a literature review\, drafting a research paper. During the workshop\, participants will gain hands-on experience using AI generative tools in the research process. We will also deliver prompt composition tips and strategies for producing more relevant and appropriate outputs of AI generative tools for different tasks. Furthermore\, we will delve into the critical evaluation of AI-generated tools in the context of supporting academic research works.

SUMMARY:Using Generative AI Tools for Supporting Data Processing and Analysis
DESCRIPTION:Abstract\n\n\n\n\nThis intermediate-level workshop introduces practical solutions for using generative AI tools to support data processing and analysis tasks through interaction with large language models (LLMs) on the LTTC LLM Studio’s Model-as-a-Service (MaaS) platform. Participants with foundational knowledge in data analysis and AI acquired from our introductory-level workshop will gain hands-on experience utilizing generative AI in the data analysis process. Specifically\, they will create a custom application on the MaaS platform\, develop a specialized knowledge base tailored to their data analysis needs\, and generate statistical data descriptions based on their data. We will also discuss strategies such as prompt engineering and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to improve the relevance and quality of AI-generated outputs. Additionally\, participants will learn about the limitations of generative AI in data processing and analysis and how to critically assess the validity of AI-generated outputs.
